From March 23 to 27, the participants of the \u201cThe Shake Down\u201d \u2013 10 young curators from Latvia and Norway, as well as their mentors \u2013 met for the first time in person after several months of online communication. Youngsters from Latvia and the NTIL team traveled to a residential in Trondheim, Norway, where they were met by the project partner\u00a0Rosendal Teater<\/a>\u00a0team and Norwegian young curators.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Wednesday through to Sunday, all participants gathered to travel through a series of proposals made by mentors, workshop hosts and teenagers a like. All designed to create space for the teenage curators to experiment with and reflect upon curatorial practices within the performing arts. The in-between times for conversation, eating and hanging out are as important to the residency as the workshop \u2013 with food and beverages seen as a central workshop material. The youngsters also attended the performance \u201cHow to. A Score\u201d by choreographer and dancer Mia Habib.<\/p>\n

The special workshop leaders were curator and dramaturg Petr Dlouh\u00fd, dramaturg, curator and pedagogue Sodja Zupanc \u2013 Lotker, theatre maker and deviser Lea Kukovi\u010di\u010d and choreographer and dancer Mette Edvardsen.<\/p>\n

The project has been created with the support of the European Economic Area (EEA) Grants Financial Mechanism funding period 2014. \u2013 2021. program \u201cLocal Development, Poverty Reduction, and Cultural Cooperation\u201d open call \u201cSupport for the Creation of Professional Art and Cultural Products for Children and Youth\u201d. The project\u2019s total eligible costs are 249 635,00 EUR. The Shake Down benefits from a \u20ac 212 189,75 grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants and 37 445,25 EUR from national co-financing. The aim of the project is to promote the involvement of young people in solving issues of public importance and participation in the cultural life of the city.
